Another dayy..!!

Heya everyone..

Woke up early again..i guess i am getting used to wake early now:)

We are given some free time before the school begins. we all utilize this time in our favourite activity : CHATTING ;) We jibber-jabber about anything and everything ..

We had our first lecture on history. History is not my fav. subject though but sitting and learning in a new environment is a great experience.

But little did we know, that a funny experience was waiting for us. There was an assembly after the class. We thought it will be the usual prayers and all but it was an aberration. The senior most students were having their session end in august, they were going to leave the school. so as a farewell types they had to gift their juniors a WISH. The WISH was that the seniors have to do whatever their juniors asked for..Fun ryt?

They were asked to perform silly dances, sing really bad songs and other such activities. They also hosted a funny award function giving away hilarious awards. It was such a sight but it would have been more fun if we would have known Danish. Anyway, the idea is cool... isn't it? Lets see if we get to do this in our school:-P

After this we had a small debate on how Denmark and India are different . Our topic was future.. The points made at both the ends were informative. We enjoyed this. The debate continued after the lunch too. After this, we went for our dance practice. Yes, we are performing one;)

Another exciting day at school was over. But at home, another surprise was waiting for me. It was runa's sister who came to visit us. and guess what was cooked..

Chole chawal.. :) We cooked White Chana Rice for the dinner. It was delicious ;) we chatted till late .. Its good to know their family ..their culture. They are also grounded with their families like us..I am really grateful for this wonderful experience.

First dayy at school...!!

Woke up super early... got dressed. Tyrine got my breakfast ready ;) jus like my mom used to do for me..

We took the bus to school (me and runa).  Friedriksborg is colossal. We were amazed at the view.
All of us were greeted warmly and allotted a room where we would assemble everyday and begin our day. We were introduced to the Danish history, culture and lifestyle. You know the word ‘Denmark’ dates back to the Viking Age and is carved on the famous Jelling Stone from around 900 AD.

The country is world-known for its focus on sustainability, new Nordic food, bikes, classic furniture design and for being the happiest country in the world. :) (no doubt!!!)

Their were many activities planned for us. The first one was speed dating. We were asked to talk to all the danish hosts and know a little bit about them.. We asked some random questions and got funny answers.. It was a great way to know each other.

Then we went for the school tour. Its a palatial building with ample space and attention allotted to each part. The classes are spacious, airy and have good lighting. And the gardens and the stadium are impeccable. The school boasts of a large library (scroll down to have a look :) )

We were given time to explore the school. Then we had lunch in the same room. We were given instructions that in case you forget or get lost somewhere (Huge building ;) ) , you can come to the same room and get help from here.

After the lunch, we headed for gym class. It was a king-size stadium. We first completed 5 rounds of the stadium as warm up and then we played basket ball and badminton. It was real fun ..

The school got over at 2.00pm. after the school, we all went to friedriksborg park and spent some time there. Everyone was busy clicking pictures ,running and having fun.

All left for home but me and runa went for grocery shopping.. We bought some chips, chocolates and we came back.

In the evening, runa and I did some yoga. Oh, I forgot to mention, before we came to denmark, Runa and Tyrine were in India. They had visited Kerala and explored southern India. They learnt about yoga and ayurvedic medicines. Thats where she caught on yoga. And my yoga skills, thanks to our yoga teachers at school, which helped us bond.

After dinner, our hosts planned to take us to beach. We had bon fire, watched sun set ..Played many games, danced a lot.. (sorry not much pictures, no battery :( ) But we had a great time.
And i guess thats what count right?? technology has actually spoiled us.. we miss real fun while capturing everything.

ooops sorry for the above thought, but it was a glamorous golden sight.

Copenhagen...amazing place

Howdy ppl.. today was real fun.. wid all my friends...we all visited Copenhagen...it is such an amazing place....

So beautiful.. its quite n serene..I met my colleagues n teachers on the metro station... it was such a pleasant ride .. we took a metro from
Copenhagen to hillrode. We all were so excited....first trip to the capital of denmark..!!

We started walking from the station to the little mermaid.

Little mermaid was a fairy tale and a girl who was half human and half fish..It was really pretty..it was made 100 years ago.. Fun fact : completed its 100 years last month ;)....

After that we visited the castles where the king and the queen lived...It was so beautiful..

We were shown amazing art pieces and castles and ships...it was engaging..we spent almost an hour watching them ..

Then there was a programme of guards changing..its d tym when the guards change gor their duty...the fun fact was that they cant remove their really heavy hats....not even once in a day....it was simply awsum.. I had never seen something like that before....

Then we had lunch on the ship... This was the best part for me.. floating on water.. The  entire city could be seen. the view was amazing. On one side you could see the famous buildings...the largest library the national bank...the parliament and far away was  opera house..

It was a treat to our eyes. Its truly said that nature is a beauty of hidden paradise and here i saw a beautiful,exciting and enchanting world.

We saw these cool bikes. and that were really amazing...I have never seen them in India....

then there were lotte and stein .. the music was really soothing.

we visited the harbor and the canals after the ride...all these things are really new and quiet amazing..So different so amusing... :)

The opera house , the parliament , the castles , church , banks , everything is so..so amazing art pieces... people here are really helpful.. really cooperative and jovial...

the city is so calm and tranquil.... i wish i could just stay here ..

We had a rollicking good time.

First day

hello every one..

today is our the first day of our stay in this beautiful city copenhagen. Its the capital of denmark. You know denmark is one of the Scandinavian countries, which also includes Norway and Sweden. Details of why such name etc i'll update later .. but right now i am super excited for my stay here.

Oh and before i run away with the details of our fun filled day, let me tell you.. why we are here and how are we supposed to work: we are here for student   cultural and exchange program..we were divided into groups.. few of us are going to stay in odense an island and remaining in Copenhagen capital of denmark...
its our first step to learn a completely different culture and enrich our country with the beauty out here.

So as i mentioned we were going to stay with the natives,we were allotted families beforehand. As soon as we landed, we were awestruck by the beauty of the country. it was such a delight. We were very warmly received by our hosts here. My family,( yes! you read it right) includes Runa , her mother  Tyrine and her father Lars. They live their two cute cats Miki and Pheobe. They'll remind you of the Snowbell from stuart little (Scroll down for their pic;) )
we reached home in less than twenty minutes. The people here are really friendly,they made me very comfortable. The cats were friendly but i was scared at first, They followed me everywhere. jumped on my bags.. i literally jumped up and down with them... they had fun..i could see ;)

Next morning ( technically my second day, but night stay doesn't count , does it? ) .. anyways.. next morning runa , tyrine(mother) and lars (father)  went out for horse riding. Tyrine is really fond of horses .. she owns a no. of horses of brown color...  the horses were cool but i could not ride them ..i guess they were not ready for me ;) next time may be..
The stay was quite huge and next to lake and ocean.. Crystal clear water.. oops.. crystal clear freezing water. i was not able to stay in it for more than 40 seconds i suppose. it was too cold.. But seriously it was such an amazing view.. You can just fall in love with the serene beauty of it..
People come here for outings. there were dolphins.. and huge eagles... Watching dolphins play was amusing.. We had fun..

We went to our friends in the evening. Gunjan's family was the host for the evening. Jhanvi's family and my family were guests.. But its was not really formal  like hosts and guests. We were all like a big family having bon fire, playing pranks, telling stories.. barbeque was some thing new for me... The food here is good but i do miss my mom-made food..  :(  we had a great time although it was quite cold out there.

Overall it was a great start..Looking forward for more fun ;)
